The 15th edition of the International Scientific Conference
”Defense Resources Management in the 21st Century” (CoDRM)
12 - 13 november 2020

The Regional Department of Defense Resources Management Studies (DRESMARA), in collaboration with the Military Sciences Section of the Romanian Academy of Scientists, War Studies University from Warsaw/Poland, ”Alexandru cel Bun” Military Academy of the Armed Forces from Moldova, National School of Political and Administrative Studies (SNSPA), ”Transilvania” University from Brasov and ”Political Research Group” NGO, organized, the 15th edition of the International Scientific Conference ”Defense Resources Management in the 21st Century” between 12 and 13 November, 2020 (CoDRM).

Under the motto Defence Resources Management in the current volatile global context, CoDRM brought together academic teaching staff, PhD candidates, students, courses participants and not least, management and geopolitics experts, to exchange experience and share results of their research on the most diverse aspects of resource management in the spirit of new changes brought about by the current security environment.

The high level of the conference was supported by the following keynote speakers who chaired the plenary sessions of the conference: Ioan-Mircea PAȘCU, Professor, PhD and Liliana POPESCU, Professor, PhD/SNSPA Bucharest, Dr. Oana Antonia COLIBĂȘANU, Vice-president for Strategic Relationships and senior geopolitical analyst at Geopolitical Futures, Monica SZELES, Professor, PhD/„Transilvania” University of Brașov, , Dr. Jessica Beth ASCH, Senior Economist at RAND Corporation/USA, Lieutenant General (Ret.) Ben HODGES, Pershing Chair in Strategic Studies, Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA)/USA, Eleftherios THALASSINOS, Professor, PhD, University of Pyreus, Greece and COL eng. Andrzej SOBOŃ, Associate professor, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of National Security/University of War, Warsaw, Poland.

The conference was held both in plenary sessions and in 6 specific sections:

  • Defense Economics, chair Ionuț-Vlad DUMITRACHE, Associate professor, PhD / DRESMARA;
  • Transatlantic cooperation, chair Liliana FILIP, PhD candidate / “Political Research Group”;
  • Management Theory and Practice, chair Aura CODREANU, Associate professor, PhD / DRESMARA;
  • Social sciences, chair Brînduşa-Maria POPA, lecturer, PhD / DRESMARA;
  • Information Science, chair COL eng. Cezar VASILESCU, Professor, PhD, habil. / DRESMARA.

As a result of the great scientific prestige accumulated during the previous editions, the conference joint wide national and international participants, with 49 papers by 59 authors, individually or collectively, as follows:

  • at national level - 37 papers, 42 authors;
    • defence education entities (DRESMARA, “Carol I” National Defense University, “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy, “Henri Coandă” Air Force Academy) and other structures / units of the Ministry of National Defense - 17 articles, 24 authors;
    • universities (SNSPA and „Titu Maiorescu” / Bucharest, „Lucian Blaga” / Sibiu) - 2 articles / 3 authors;
    • other institutions / organizations / companies (Political Research Group, Sibiu Connections Association, S.C. Thyssenkrupp Bilstein SA and Harting Romania Manufacturing SCS, Sibiu) - 1 article / 1 author, 3 co-authors for 2 articles;
    • students - master „Defense resources management” / DRESMARA - 16 articles / 16 authors;
    • independent - 1 article / 1 author.
  • at international level - 12 articles, 13 authors;
    • defence education entities from Armenia (National Defense Research University), Moldova ("Alexandru cel Bun" Military Academy of the Armed Forces) and Poland (War Studies University) - 11 articles / 12 authors (10 individual / 1 with 2 authors);
    • universities from Turkey (Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University and Istinye University Istanbul) - 1 article with 2 authors.

    The 15th edition of the conference offered the perfect framework for relevant scientific debates on concepts, principles and trends in the fields of economics and defense planning, theories and practices in management, social sciences, transatlantic cooperation and information science in the new context of changes generated by the current security environment.
